    The National Security Guard (NSG), also known as the Black Cats, is India’s elite counter-terrorism force. It was created in response to rising threats of terrorism following Operation Blue Star. NSG is a federal contingency force tasked with handling all facets of terrorism across India, including hostage rescue, bomb disposal, and VIP protection. It recruits personnel from the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces. NSG is known for its swift, surgical operations and has played key roles in missions like Operation Black Thunder and Operation Black Tornado during the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
